From pasture to plate.
At Primo Beef, we're dedicated to bringing you 100% grass-fed beef, raised with integrity and a commitment to sustainable practices right here in the Pacific Northwest. We're a family-owned operation, and while we partner with trusted local farms, every animal we offer is finished on our own farm, ensuring the highest standards from start to finish.
Our Cattle: Truly Grass-Fed
The term "grass-fed" can be confusing, but we adhere strictly to USDA-approved standards. This means our cattle have continuous access to pasture and their diet consists solely of grass or other approved forage — never corn, grain, or feedlots. We carefully select small groups of cattle from family farms in Washington and Oregon that share our dedication to these rigorous grass-fed principles.
Regenerative Farming at Our Core
We're passionate about making the most of the land we have available, and that means applying regenerative farming practices to cultivate robust pastures for our cattle. Our approach is focused on efficiency and ensuring the health of both the animals and the land.
We maintain a low volume of cattle on our farm to prevent overgrazing. Through the spring and summer, we practice rotational grazing, moving our cattle to different sections of pasture. This gives grazed areas time to rest and regrow, ensuring a continuous supply of nutrient-rich forage and maximizing what our land can produce.
In the dormant winter months, we supplement their diet with a high-quality alfalfa/orchard grass mix, ensuring they receive all the necessary nutrients.
Humane Handling and Expert Processing
From the moment cattle arrive on our farm, we track them and keep them in small groups to ensure their well-being. When they're ready for processing, we transport them to a USDA-inspected facility that is Animal Welfare Approved, ensuring a low-stress environment and proper care for the animals throughout the entire process.
After processing, each animal is assigned a unique lot number and final hanging weight, which we meticulously track. We then use dry aging — exposing the beef to a controlled environment to enhance flavor and tenderness — before vacuum-sealing, labeling, and dating each cut for a shelf life of up to two years.
